Automatic Speed Control System of a Hump-Shunting Diesel Locomotive

Purpose: The importance of developing automatic speed control systems for hump-shunting diesel locomotives is demonstrated. Using as an example a shunting locomotive Type TEM7A mathematical description provided electric power transmission final controlling element the system and train object. A flow-chart generated system’s principle operation designed so to ensure main requirements are met. PI controller developed with parameters that provide maximum second-order integral accuracy control. Methods: Controller’s optimum values found using Monte Carlo simulation. Results: results simulation modeling presented. Practical significance: smooth transient response maintain given value within range 15 km/h when pushing over hump or at breaking up, providing increased capacity new generation yards featuring systems.
